Washington, DC. (4News) — A school in Prince George’s County created a special art exhibit to help students process their emotions.
SPRINGDALE, Md. (7News) — A Prince George's County teacher was surprised Thursday with a $27,000 check to help fund a program for students with cognitive disabilities develop job skills.
Charles H. Flowers High School teacher LeAnn Holden-Martin was presented with the check for the Holden-Martin's "Sonny House Job Skills Program."
The event was part of Voya's annual Unsung Heroes award program. Voya sorts through applications and selects 50 teachers nationwide to receive a $2,000 grant.
Holden-Martin received this year's first-place prize, consisting of the $25,000 Voya Unsung Heroes Award on top of the $2,000 for being one of the national finalists.
